
The US Social Forum (USSF) is a movement building process. It is not a conference but it is a space to come up with the peoples’ solutions to the economic and ecological crisis. The USSF is the next most important step in our struggle to build a powerful multi-racial, multi-sectoral, inter-generational, diverse, inclusive, internationalist movement that transforms this country and changes history.

J.T. Hairston Homes Memorial Apartments was founded 08/21/967 “…we, the undersigned, do hereb associate ourselves into a non-stock, non-profit corporation…” during a time when Greensboro Housing Authority Properties were closed to blacks. One of the founding members, Ezell Blair, Sr. is the father of A&T Four member, Jibreel Kazaan (Ezell Blair). Article III states “The purposes for which the corporation is formed and the business and the objects to be carried on and promoted by it, are as follows: (a) To provide, on a nonprofit basis, housing for low and moderate income families and families diplaced from urban renewal areas or as a result of governmental action, where no adequate housing exists for such groups, pursuant to Section 221 (d)(3) of the National Housing Act, as amended (b) To provide dwelling accommodations for families displaced from urban renewal areas or as a result of governmental action ad to assist further the provision of housing for moderate and low income families.

The Civic Projects is a 14,000-mile, cross country journey, to promote social awareness and service by volunteering at 50 community organizations in 50 states in 50 days. They arrived in Greensboro, NC on January 17, 2010. The LaStraw, Inc. planned a Community Health Fair for the King Day of Service, Jauary 18, 2010. Kristin L’Orange and Tim Malcolm (founders of the Civic Projects), volunteers from NC A&T State University’s Nursing 350 class, and Mesha Minter, a lone UNCG, student helped us canvass the surrounding community.
